On July 16, Austin-based rock quartet, The Steps, release their newest EP Flight Path. Now veterans of the Austin independent rock scene, The Steps made their recording debut with a 7” vinyl single, Outlaw, on Young and Lost Club Records (UK). The single generated a Japan album release in April 2008 with Kurofune Records. All before leaving high school.

Since then, the band has signed to Playing in Traffic Records (Los Lonely Boys, SPEAK, Sahara Smith), released critically acclaimed Take It All In, which spawned a national tour and several television placements in ABC Family’s Greek, Sons of Tuscon, NBC’s Knight Rider, and MTV’s The Real World.  

Flight Path is the demonstration of growing songwriting and edgy tracks, making it a summer must-have. Recorded with producer Frenchie Smith (JET, Dandy Warhols) at The Bubble Studios in Austin, the four track EP builds from The Steps’ signature garage rock to a more sophisticated sound. Lead single “Out Tonight” has received early attention from a placement in the hit series Vampire Diaries.

On top of a new release, The Steps were chosen as one of eight bands nationwide to compete in the MEAD Five Star Music Insider competition, which will be promoted through 25 million notebooks and television ads this summer.

The band has handpicked some of their favorite former touring partners Hightide Blues (Nashville) and The Burning Hotels (Ft. Worth) to celebrate Flight Path at The Parish!
