Myth of the Heart:
Sahara Smith talks about her new project girl pilot, which strays left of 2010’s acclaimed

“The name Girl Pilot comes from a book of comics from the 1940s called ‘Smilin’ Jack and the Daredevil Girl Pilot’ that I’ve had since I was 13. I’ve carried that name around with me for years, and because my new album is so different from the last, and so indicative of who I am now, this feels like the perfect moment to use it. I’ve never been so excited to do what I do, or felt so eager to take control of my life and my career. Girl Pilot feels somehow correct,” says Sahara.

She has been working with producer Brian Beattie (Shearwater, Okkervil River) at his South Austin studio on a new album featuring 10 original songs and many guest features to be disclosed. Keep a look out for sneak previews and a release date!

girl pilot will perform her first Austin shows at the Swan Dive July 4 and July 25. Go check out one (or both) of these shows and hear some of her new songs!
